Hey! This is an invitation to participate in an international kink study.
The International Kink Health Study (IKHS) is a large longitudinal study on the health of kink people. The research aims to use its findings e.g. to improve the competence of healthcare professionals in encountering kinky individuals and providing professional treatment. I attended a virtual meeting with the lead researcher Dr. Richard Sprott and other members of the research team, and their message was that they needed more respondents from Finland and elsewhere in Europe.
”
The International Kink Health Study (IKHS) is a research project about the physical and mental health, childhood experiences, sexuality, and healthcare of those around the world with recurring fantasies and practices that involve kink/BDSM/leather and fetish.
The goals of the study include: to document the prevalence of injuries and medical complications arising from kink activities; to document how healthcare is utilized by kink-involved people; to document health outcomes of people involved in kink; and to see how much of an impact that community connection, belongingness, and kink identity have on people’s health, healthcare use, and how they disclose to healthcare providers about their kink involvement.”

https://www.tashra.org/ikhs/ The length of the study questionnaire varies according to individual answers.
Your participation in the study will help us to: - Understand the health benefits and risks of your kink interests and involvement.
- Better understand how the stress of being a stigmatized and often misunderstood sexual minority impacts your mental and physical health.
- Improve your health care by training therapists and medical care professionals in how to provide more informed and compassionate care to you.
- Support other kink health research that supports a better life for you.
The study is conducted by
TASHRA - The Alternative Sexualities Health Research Alliance. TASHRA has collected information on the health and health care experiences of people who identify as kinky since 2012. TASHRA operates on a non-profit basis. You can find more information about TASHRA:
